Writing.
Writing is a portal to understanding
someone else's world.
I write most days. I prioritise my 'Magic Hour', a dedicated writing time for myself, regardless of what else is happening in the day. This can be alone, or I join others in an early morning online writing group. During term time, I often connect with another online group to share my work and provide feedback. For smaller writing projects, I produce blogs or enter competitions, but my longer-term focus is my novel. This has gone through various permutations since my MA dissertation, but now I am in that sweet spot, where the story has revealed itself and the words are flowing.

Trailblazing Neuronature, a blended genre where neurodiversity meets nature.
Gardening, plants and nature are inevitably featured in my stories. I write about gardeners as protagonists, use plants as metaphors, and the natural world to give a sense of place. For me, nature is entwined with storytelling, as that, after all, is where life happens.
My novel offers a new way to understand neurodiversity by blending two genres: neurodiversity and nature writing to create what I call ‘Neuronature’. Nature writing describes the natural environment, but my novel takes this a step further by drawing on the complexity of neurodiversity and using nature as a metaphor. It reflects the importance of nature and gardening to autistic women and seeks to push the boundaries of nature writing by examining personal challenges and societal issues.
Thirty Days
Thirty Days follows a middle-aged woman’s journey to unearth her true self. Think of The Midnight Library mixed with messy self-help and a lifetime of masking. It's incidentally queer, and a haven for readers to discover themselves, or for allies to learn more.
